Heatwave shattered records in Canada and United States.
Who have not been affected by the heat this summer? The temperatures has been way too high lately, and that is why I did some research of what is happening in Canada and some part of United States.
Hundred people have died when temperature records have been shattered across western Canada and the US Pacific Northwest.
Canada broke its country temperature record for a third straight day on Tuesday - 49.6C (121.3F) in Lytton, British Columbia. Before Sunday, temperatures in the country had never passed 45C. So far the number of death registered is 486 over five days compared with an average of 165 in normal times. On the other hand, The US north-west has also seen record highs - and a number of fatalities. For instance, Portland, a city with a famously rainy climate, broke its all-time high temperature record for three days in a row leaving more than 60 deaths. Seattle, and other cities climbed above 46C (114.8F) in places. with a 20 deaths until today.
The searing temperatures have left many vulnerable people struggling in the sweltering heat. Meanwhile Many have been forced to take refuge in cooling centers - air-conditioned buildings, such as stadiums, where residents can work and sleep. People in Vancouver has reported that the heat has been so intense it has melted power cables and buckled roads. Schools has shut down their doors as well.
Lytton a small town in Canada with 250 resident burned out in 15 minutes when the temperatures went up until 122F. people where evacuated on time and located in shelters.
According with the experts on the subject, what turned out those high temperature was the result of what is known as a "heat dome" - a mountain of warm air pressing down across a huge area and refusing to move. However, people strongly believe that all of this is because of global warming and yet there is more to come.
Tell me how is summer going so far in your country or state.
